We are runners up for best community initiative!
Semley Village Stores has just won its first ever award after only 6 months by becoming runners up in the category of Best Community Initiative. We were nominated by the South West Area Board and were in competition with over 300 initiatives across the County, broken down into 7 categories.
Resplendent in country and western garb 2 committee members represented the shop and joined 100-150 others at a full on BAFTA style Western ‘gala’ evening hosted by Wiltshire County Council who held their 2012 Annual Voluntary and Community Awards at Corn Exchange at Devizes on 2nd October 2012. The eventual winners were the Trowbridge Alzheimer’s Hub but as runners up we walked away with a prize of £250.
On a slightly more serious note it is of great credit to Wiltshire Council that they have produced the initial spark to quite so many community initiatives; including £5,000 to our shop. Well done all.
